INSULA
WORLD MUSIC
Maher Beauroy and Redha Benabdallah met for the first time in 2006 at La Sorbonne. Out of this was born a friendship, and the promise one day to play together and mix their respective styles of music: Caribbean jazz and Algerian and Arab-Andalusian music. The piano for one, Maher, who first performed at the age of 6 in Martinique, and the oud for the other, Redha, who studied classical guitar and the kwitra, the Algerian guitar. Their project, Insula, pays homage to a thinker who is dear to them: the ever- subversive Frantz Fanon.
